About
Hi. My name is Emily and I live in Boston. Do something creative every day. It's easy.Visit my website.
And possibly a few more changes soon. Take a look!
#55: Cabin on the lake. Winthrop, Maine. Fourth of July weekend.
But I haven’t exactly been slacking. Lots of lake, beach, friends, and family on the way for you. For my first summer that’s not actually just a break, I think I’ve been doing the most recreational activities I ever have in my life. Hoping to get as caught up as possible with posts soon in between work, fixing/updating the website, picking out a health care plan, and paying the bills - among trying to find some time to not have to act so grown up, as that is my one birthday wish for this week. (But also that the bills will get paid and I’ll pick a good health care plan. Yup, guess I’m old now or something.)
#54: A favorite from the shoot I did back in December for the artwork for The Tired and True’s debut record, “Scenarios,” which will be available in stores everywhere Tuesday, July 6. Pick it up or pre-order it, and if you’re in CT you should go to their release show at Wallingford American Legion tomorrow night. These dudes work & play hard, show them some support!
#52: Baby sister swinging on the beach. Lighthouse Point Park, New Haven, Connecticut.
This is a pretty old one, a scan of a print I made in basic photo freshman year. Lighthouse Park is one of my favorite places in the world, despite better judgment, and my little sister is one of my favorite people, also possibly despite better judgment. This picture can almost always instantly make me homesick. As such visual beings, we tend to create emotional connections to a lot of the images we see, and this is an image to which I have a strong emotional connection despite its flaws. In some ways these flaws strengthen that bond by reminding me how far I’ve come in just a few years, and give me hope that five years from now I’ll look back at my current work with the same feeling, and five years from then and so on. But even more, this image embodies a lot of things I’ve been missing in my life lately - the shore, my family, and my home.
#50: Lovell Lake, shortly before 9 p.m. on the second-longest day of the year.
#49: The camp. Sanbornville, New Hampshire.
#47: Finally found you, Banksy. On Essex Street in Chinatown, Boston. Was surprised the city hadn’t painted over it yet, Cambridge wasted no time getting rid of the one in Central.
